The Langtang Valley Trek is one of the most accessible yet rewarding treks in Nepal. Located north of Kathmandu, it takes you through the heart of the Langtang National Park, offering a blend of diverse ecosystems and rich Tamang heritage. Often called the "Valley of Glaciers," it provides stunning mountain views without the extreme altitude of Everest or Annapurna.

Highlights of the Trek

  • Kyangin Gompa: A famous Buddhist monastery and cheese factory set in a stunning glacial amphitheater at 3,870m.
  • Kyangin Ri (4,773m) & Tserko Ri (4,984m): Popular viewpoints offering 360-degree panoramas of Langtang Lirung (7,227m), Ganesh Himal, and the Tibetan peaks.
  • Tamang Culture: Experience the unique hospitality and traditions of the local Tamang people who have inhabited the valley for centuries. Their culture is heavily influenced by Tibetan Buddhism.
  • Glacial Landscapes: Witness the powerful beauty of the Langtang glacier and the sheer rock faces of the valley walls.

Resilience and Recovery

Despite being heavily affected by the 2015 earthquake, which devastated the village of Langtang, the valley has shown incredible resilience. The local community has rebuilt the trails and teahouses with support from trekkers and international aid. Today, visiting Langtang is one of the best ways to support the region's sustainable recovery and honor the memory of those lost.
